Gift sets in your store: Make contents, quantities and variants clear

A gift set should make its products and quantities clear at a glance. Name the contents precisely, show the components separately and explain what changes when a customer selects a variant. An atmospheric photograph alone does not reliably answer those questions.

A set initially means products offered together. It does not establish that they arrive ready-packed in a gift box or travel in one shipment. Configuring the offer in the store is another separate step: Shopify's product-bundle guidance describes using a bundles app. That platform feature is not evidence that Shirtee.Cloud can process a particular combination.

Define the contents before naming the set

Start with a short contents list. In this original fictional example, the proposed set contains one fabric bag and two art cards with different designs. A ribbon serves only as a photographic prop. This is an offer concept, not a confirmed catalogue combination or a promised packaging service.

Component Quantity per set What the customer needs to know
Fabric bag 1 item Which configuration and design are selected
Art card A 1 item Design A is included
Art card B 1 item Design B is included, rather than a second copy of A
Ribbon in the photograph Not included The decorative prop is outside the contents

This list gives you a precise working title: “Illustration set: one bag and two art cards”. A creative collection name may be added later, but it cannot replace the contents description. If you do not supply a box, the name should not imply one.

Count sets and individual items separately

The cart quantity may refer to the whole set. In this example, quantity two would mean two bags, two A cards and two B cards: six individual items. Record that expectation in your internal review and check whether the chosen store configuration actually represents it correctly.

“Three-piece set” alone is less precise than the full contents list. Three pieces might mean three different products, three identical items or one product with accessories. Use explicit quantities as the basis for both the description and the check.

If customers can choose between two bag colours, explain beside the selector that the card designs remain unchanged. If the cards are also selectable, each choice needs an unambiguous label. A shared option called “Blue” is unclear unless customers can tell which component it affects.

Make the images tell the same story

Plan a straightforward contents view alongside the atmospheric main image. Arrange the included items separately so their quantities and different designs are visible. Do not show the front and back of one item in a way that suggests two copies are included.

Props can support the visual style. They should not displace the central information: what will the customer receive? Identify excluded props wherever they could create a mistaken expectation. Label detail views and additional colour options so the selected configuration remains clear.

The article on mockups and product photography helps you choose an accurate form of presentation. Sets add a quantity check: each image needs to agree with the combination being selected.

Confirm packaging and shipping separately

Describe gift packaging as part of the offer only when it has been confirmed for that exact set. A shared product name, a single cart line or an attractive box in a photograph does not establish a shared packing process.

When combining POD products with finished stocked items, the individual components need correct allocation. The guide to a hybrid product range covers that inventory and process question. The concern here is the corresponding customer information: which packaging is supplied, and which shipping statements have been confirmed for the specific offer?

Resolve missing information before starting sales. Do not replace it with vague promises such as “perfectly packaged and ready to gift immediately”.

Check three views of the same order

Compare the selected product page, cart and order confirmation side by side. For one set and then two sets, check that the variant, contents and quantities agree. Also test a variant change so that an earlier image or description does not accidentally remain in place.

Ask someone unfamiliar with the offer to list what they expect to receive. If their list differs from yours, revise the relevant wording or image. A gift set is understandable when its presentation and the concrete delivery expectation match.
